Norman is an Edinburgh born, visual artist specialising in analogue and digital painting.
His practice is of a binary nature; exploring the discordant interference between paint and digital. Each deliberate misrepresentation of over-painted digital, reveals the beauty of lost transmissions and corrupted imagery. Within the corruption, there is a breaking up of the information, which allures to the space between abstraction and figuration.
He has been a full time practicing artist for over 20 years and have exhibited in galleries across the UK and Europe.
Recently he has been working collaboratively on several projects including a series of innovative digital artworks with Los Angeles based artist Robness Cyberpop.
- Early this year (2020) he worked on a project with writer Irvine Welsh to produce a 10 min digital projection which has allowed him to explore the medium of moving image.
- He has won several awards including the prestigious RSA Latimer Award for an outstanding Scottish painter.
